 VISITING DETAILS FOR  COTTAGE TOURS
  • General public tours last 1.25 to 2 hours (group tour times will be discussed prior to visitation). General includes both floors of Museum and outside points of interest on grounds including Paine's grave site and Sophia Brewster One Room Schoolhouse (outside portion may be canceled due to extreme weather conditions). Paine's homestead and time in New Rochelle is discussed, a general overview of the rich history of New Rochelle through the centuries and how classes were conducted in our 1836 schoolhouse. 
  • Specialty Tours, such as our children's tour, and grounds walking tour will be listed on our MUSEUM TOUR INFO page when available for booking.
  • Available Public tour schedule is posted on our website and social media sites. They will be offered on a limited basis during our 250th celebration season. 
  • Public tours begin promptly at posted time. Ticket holders can join a tour in progress if arriving late. Prepaid Group tours will begin when entire group arrives. 
  • Confirmation for group tours will be sent via email once payment has been received. Member's tours are included with membership, confirmation is sent when an agreed date is reserved.
  • Due to the size of the Cottage, we limit the number of guests for public tours. Number of available tickets indicated on our ticket purchase page. Group tour size accommodations will be discussed for the best experience.
  • Walkway to our Museum entrance is wheelchair accessible. There is a small curb before you enter the first floor.
  • Our second floor is accessible by stairs only. A virtual tour of our second floor exhibits can be arranged if requested when scheduling your tour.
  • Museum restroom available on the second floor.
  • We enjoy visitors of all ages. If children under 14 will be included in your tour, we recommend arranging a child's theme tour.
  • Leashed and well behaved pets are welcome on our outside grounds only. Please remember to pick up after your pets.
  • There is free street parking available on Sicard Avenue.
  • Weather permitting bring a Picnic to enjoy on our grounds. We have several tables available across our property. Forgot your picnic? Beechmont Tavern has a full menu that delivers right to the Cottage Grounds. Remember to take your trash with you.
  • Not into a Picnic, New Rochelle has many food choices available nearby. Visit Yelp, TripAdvisor & OpenTable.
  • Remember- Before your visit, check our calendar page to make sure our Museum is not closed for a special event or tour has been fully booked..
 The Huguenot & New Rochelle Historical Association (HNRHA), owners of the Thomas Paine Cottage is a private nonprofit & is not federally or locally funded.
Our admission fees 
help fund the numerous HNRHA Educational Programming offered at Paine's Homestead.
