Come celebrate the last day of the Thomas Paine Festival 2022 at our Colonial Fair Family Fun Day, featuring historical & Juneteenth activities!
11am Official opening of the Thomas Paine New Rochelle Center immediately followed by a wreath laying ceremony at Paine’s Grave site by Madame Bonneville lead by Fife & Drums 12:30pm Congressman Jamie Raskin sends a message on his work to have a Paine Monument built in D.C. All day Paine Cottage Activities include historical reenactors, period music, Colonial Woodworking, Lessons in the Sophia Brewster One-room schoolhouse. Win prizes at one of our game sites – Corn Hole Toss, Potato Sack Race, Build a Puzzle Race, Scavenger Hunt & more! 3 pm Sarah Jane Marsh, reads excerpts from her book “Thomas Paine & the Dangerous Word" at Paine Memorial Building via Zoom. Arts & Crafts Tables featuring – Colonial Period Activities – Coloring, puzzles, finger painting & more 2 pm Meet Artist Zenos Frudakis, world-renowned award-winning sculptor who will be creating the Paine Monument for Washington, DC 4:30 pm A very special return extended performance of “The Crossing & the 10 Crucial Days” with a meet & greet directly following Paine Cottage will be open for free self-guided tours. Historical lectures in Memorial Building Erik & Eliza Lichack entertains all with period music and children’s music rings.
